Mom’s Favorite Gingerbread

Ingrients & Directions


1/2 c Shortening
2 tb Sugar
1 Egg
1 c Black molasses
1 c Boiling water
2 1/4 c Flour
1 ts Baking soda
1/2 ts Salt
1 ts Ginger
1 ts Cinnamon
Dark brown sugar

Mix the shortening, sugar and egg together. Blend in the boiling
water and molasses. Sift dry ingredients together and stir into the
wet mixture. Pour into well greased 9″ square pan. Sprinkle with
brown sugar. Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for 45 to 50
minutes.
