Conventional Cake Mix
Unsweetened Apple Sauce
Egg whites
Water
1 tb All-purpose flour
Select your favorite flavor and brand of conventional cake mix.
Spray desired pan(s) with cooking spray.
Prepare according to package directions with the following modifications.
Add 1 tablespoon of flour to the dry mix and blend well. Substitute an
equal amount of Natural Apple Sauce for vegetable oil and substitute an
equal number of egg whites for whole eggs.
Cook in pan(s) on rack. Remove when completely cool. Frost cake and garnish
with fresh berries if desired.
Notes: Pantry: Mott’s Natural Apple Sauce. (Nutritional information (for
entire recipe): 750 calories, 86 grams of fat will be saved based on
substituting 1/3 c. Mott’s Natural Apple Sauce for 1/3 c. oil and using 3
egg whites in place of 3 whole eggs.
