1/2 c Shortening 1/2 c Chopped pecans (optional)
2 oz Baking chocolate 1/2 c Flour
1 c Sugar 1/2 ts Baking powder
2 Eggs, well beaten 1/4 ts Baking soda
1 c Applesauce 1/4 ts Salt
1 ts Vanilla
Melt and blend the shortening and chocolate together. Cool. Stir in sugar,
eggs, applesauce, vanilla and pecans. Sift together the salt, baking
powder, baking soda and flour. Add to chocolate mix. Blend well. Pour
mixture into greased 8 inch square baking pan. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes
or until done in a 350 deg f oven. Makes one 8 inch cake – 6 to 8
servings.
