Golden Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingrients & Directions


2 c All-Purpose Flour
3 ts Baking powder
2 ts Sugar
1/2 ts Cream of tarter
1/4 ts Baking soda
1/2 c Shortening
3/4 c Buttermilk
1/4 ts Salt

Stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tarter, soda and salt.
Cut in shortening until mixture looks like course crumbs. Fashion a well in
the middle and add milk quickly, then stir just till the dough clings
together. Knead gently on lightly floured surface for 10 to 12 strokes.
Roll or pat out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut with floured cutter or tumbler. Bake
in moderately hot oven with 2/3 coals on top and 1/3 on bottom for 10 to 12
