Grapenut Bread

Ingrients & Directions


1/2 c Grapenuts
1 c Sour milk or buttermilk
1/2 c Sugar
2 tb Shortening
1 Egg
1 1/2 c Flour
1 ts Baking powder
1 ts Baking soda
1/2 ts Salt

Soak grapenuts in milk for 1/2 hour. Cream sugar, shortening, and egg. Sift
dry ingredients. Combine all and bake in greased 9×5 loaf pan . 350*
approximately 30 minutes.

Notes– This recipe came out of a community cookbook “Flavors of a Vermont
Village” .
