Pumpkin Fig Cookies

Ingrients & Directions


1 1/4 c Flour, sifted
1 1/2 ts Salt
1 ts Baking powder
1/4 ts Baking soda
3/4 c Oats, old-fashioned or quick
1 c Brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 c Sugar
1/2 c Shortening
1 ts Cinnamon
1/2 ts Nutmeg
1 Egg
1 c Pumpkin, canned or fresh
1 c Figs, dried; chopped
3/4 c Walnuts; chopped
1 tb Orange peel; grated

Mix and sift flour, salt, baking powder, and soda; stir in oats; set
aside. Cream sugars with shortening and spices; beat in egg. Add
flour mixture alternately with pumpkin. Stir in dried figs, walnuts
and orange peel. Drop by Tablespoons on greased cookie sheets. Bake
at 375 F degrees for about 15 minutes.
