3 c Flour
1 ts Baking soda
1 ts Cream of tartar
1/4 ts Salt
1 1/2 c Sugar; divided
1 c Butter
2 lg Eggs
1 ts Vanilla extract
1 c Powdered sugar
2 tb Milk
Combine flour, soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
Place 1 cup of sugar in large bowl and cut in butter using a pastry blender
until it resembles coarse meal texture. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add dry
ingredients until blended. Knead dough by hand on a floured surface,
adding just enough flour to prevent sticking (about 10-15 minutes).
Lightly grease cookie sheets or line them with parchment paper.
Roll dough into 1″ size balls (#100 scoop). Roll in remaining 1/2 cup
sugar. Place balls on prepared sheets and flatten with a glass that has
been dipped in sugar to 1/4″ thickness. Bake in 350 degree oven for 12-15
minutes. Brush cookies with glaze while they are hot.
