Follow either recipe for Large Cake above, except substitute 1 cup
maple syrup for 1 cup of the the sugar (use only 1/2 cup sugar.)
Decrease milk to 1/2 cup. Add the syrup with it. Omit vanilla.
Blend in 1.2 cup cut up butternuts (or other nuts). Bake. Cool.
Frost with Maple Syrup Icing or with a cooked white frosting with
maple flavoring added.
