1 1/2 c Flour
1/4 c Sugar
150 g Butter
1 Egg
1 tb Water
TOPPING
100 g Butter
1/2 c Raw sugar
4 Apples; up to 6
Base:
Mix flour and sugar together.
Cut butter into small pieces and rub into flour mixture until a fine crumb
consistency.
Beat egg and water together and mix into flour to form a firm dough.
Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Roll out dough to fit frying pan.
Place dough over apple mixture.
Bake mixture in frying pan at 200 C for 40 to 45 minutes.
Stand 5 minutes before inverting on to a serving plate.
Serve warm with ice cream, custard or yoghurt.
Topping:
Chop butter into pieces.
Place on the base of a heavy-based frying pan with removable or ovenproof
handle.
Sprinkle over raw sugar.
Peel apples, cut in half and remove the core. Cut into 2cm thick slices.
Melt butter and sugar, stirring all the time.
Add apple slices to butter mixture and cook over a moderate heat for 5
minutes.
