2 c FLOUR (ALL PURPOSE) 1/3 c LARD
2 1/2 ts BAKING POWDER 2 ts LARD
1/2 ts BAKING SODA 3/4 c BUTTERMILK
1 ts SALT 1 x MELTED BUTTER AS NEEDED

SIFT TOGETHER FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, SALT AND BAKING SODA. CUT IN LARD WITH
FORK OR PASTRY BLENDER. STIR IN BUTTERMILK; MIXING ONLY UNTIL DRY
INGREDIENTS ARE MOISTENED. TURN ONTO LIGHTLY FLOURED BOARD, TURNING
SEVERAL TIMES TO FORM A BALL. PAT OR ROLL INTO A CIRCLE 1/2″ TO 3/4″
THICK. CUT WITH SMALL FLOURED GLASS OR BISCUIT CUTTER AND PLACE ON A
GREASED BAKING SHEET. BRUSH TOPS WITH MELTED BUTTER; BAKE AT 450 DEGREES
F. FOR 12 TO 15 MINUTES OR UNTIL GOLDEN IN COLOR.
