Raisin Bread

Ingrients & Directions


1 c Applesauce 3/4 ts Salt
1/4 c Butter — melted 1/2 ts Baking Soda
1 Egg — beaten 1/2 ts Ground Cinnamon
1/2 c Granulated Sugar 1 ts Nutmeg — grated
1/4 c Brown Sugar — packed 3/4 c Seedless Raisins
2 c All-Purpose Flour 3/4 c Walnuts — chopped
2 ts Baking Powder

Preheat oven to 350 F. Combine applesauce, butter, egg, and sugars in
a bowl. Blend well. Sift together other dry ingredients (including
cinnamon and nutmeg) and stir into applesauce mixture until smooth.
Add raisins and chopped nuts. Turn into a well-greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch
loaf pan. Bake for 1 hr, or until the edges shrink from the sides of
the pan and the bread is nicely browned. Serve plain or toasted, with
butter or cream cheese. Yield: 1 loaf.
