Ingrients & Directions

Bread 1 qt Milk
1/2 c Currants or raisins 1/2 c Butter; melted
2 Eggs; beaten 1 tb Vanilla
3/4 c Sugar 1 ts Ground nutmeg

Place one layer of day-old bread in the bottom of a greased 9-inch
cake pan. Sprinkle with half the raisins. Place another layer of
bread on top and sprinkle with the remaining raisins. Mix together
the eggs, sugar, milk, butter, vanilla, and nutmeg and pour gently
over the bread and raisins, making sure the top layer is saturated.

Bake in a preheated 350 F oven, uncovered, until the custard is set
and the top is lightly browned, about 45 minutes. Serve warm with
whipped cream or ice cream.
