Grease a 20cm round cake pan and line it with grease-proof paper. Beat
butter, sugar and essence till light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
Beat well between additions. Fold in sifted flour and milk in 2 batches.
Divide mixture between three bowls. Put a few drops of pink colouring in
one bowl of mixture and mix well. Put cocoa and extra milk in another and
mix well. Drop spoonfuls of the mixtures into the pan. Run a knife through
the mixture to create a marbled effect. Bake for about 40 minutes at 200
degrees Celsius. Stand cake for 5 minutes before turning onto wire rake to
cool.
