Almond Shortcake

Ingrients & Directions


3/4 c Butter 2 c Flour
1 c Sugar 1 ts Baking powder
4 tb Almond paste 1/2 ts Salt
1 Egg, beaten 10 Almonds, whole, blanched
1/2 ts Almond extract

Preheat oven to 325. Cream butter, sugar and almond paste well. Add
1/2 of beaten egg and almond extract. Add dry ingredients and knead
briefly. Lightly grease 2 8″ round cake pans or pie plates. Press
mixture into pans; score edges with a fork. Brush with remaining egg
and arrange almonds in centre. Bake at 325 for 15 min or until
lightly browned.
