1 2/3 c Flour
1 c Sugar
1/2 c Cocoa
1 ts Baking soda
1/2 c Salt
1 c Buttermilk
1/2 c Vegetable oil
2 ts Vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter an lightly flour two 8″
round cake pans or one 9″X13″ pan. Mix the flour, sugar, cocoa,
baking soda and salt in a bowl. Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil and
vanilla, beating until smooth. Spread in the pans or pan, and bake,
about 20-25 minutes for the small pans, 35-45 minutes for the large
one. Test to see if a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes
in the pan before turning out onto a rack. Frost with a light
chocolate frosting.
