1 c Butter or margarine, 1 ts Vanilla extract
-softened 1 ts Almond extract
1 1/2 c Confectioners’ sugar 2 1/2 c All-purpose flour
1 Egg, lightly beaten Decorators’ sugar, optional
You can use heart cutter and red decorators’ sugar for Valentines,
shamrock cutter and green decorators’ sugar for St. Patrick’s, etc.
Cream butter and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add egg and extracts. Stir in
flour; mix well. Chill several hours. Roll dough to 1/4-inch
thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut with a 2 1/2 or 3-inch
cookie cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheets; sprinkle with sugar,
if desired. Bake at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
Yield: 3 1/2 dozen cookies.
