1/2 c Shortening -chopped
1 c Sugar 2 c Flour, all-purpose
2 Eggs 2 ts Baking powder
1 ts Vanilla extract 1/2 ts Salt
1/2 c Nuts; chopped 1 ts Cinnamon, ground
1 Apple, Winesap; coarsely Whipped cream (opt.)
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well
after each addition. Add vanilla, nuts, and apple, mix well. Combine
dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture; mix well.
Bake in a greased and floured 13x9x2″ pan at 350 degrees for about 30
minutes. Cool and cut in squares. Serve with whipped cream, if
desired.
