Ingrients & Directions
1/2 c Shortening
1/2 c Sugar
2 Egg; well beaten
1 ts Vanilla extract
1 1/2 c Flour
1/2 ts Baking soda
1/4 c Cream (or top milk)
1/2 Piece unsweetened baking
-chocolate squares, melted
1/4 c Coconut flakes
3 Dozen dates
1 1/2 Dozen walnuts; halved
Cream shortening, sugar; add eggs, vanilla; beat. Sift flour, soda; add
alternately with cream. Divide into thirds. Add chocolate to one; coconut
to second; third, plain. Stuff dates with walnut meats, drop into batter,
coat thoroughly. Bake on a greased sheet in a moderate oven (375 degrees)
for 10 minutes.
